Happy caucus day!

The Iowa caucuses are tonight! Coverage starts at 7 pm EST on CSPAN. Never have I been more sorry I didn't focus my job search on the Des Moines area.

Some stuff to get you in the mood:

A really excellent article by Andrew Sullivan about Why Obama Matters.

A David Brooks column about why Romney's old-school Reagan Republicanism could make him unelectable in the fall (NY Times free registration required)

In case you haven't seen it, Mike Gravel has given us the single greatest political ad ever made.

It's exciting that Obama won the IA caucus on the Dem side, since I'm thinking he's who I will be voting for when Maryland has its primary, and I would like him to still be in the race. The crawl on the bottom of SkyNews (a British 24 hour news channel that is on every cable system outside of N America) was about Britney Spears. Because when reporting on real news, like the presidential election, it's important to make sure that people don't forget about the people who matter, like Brit Brit.

Actually, I would say that the Iowa caucus pretty much went as well as could be hoped. Huckabee is the great democratic hope, because if the republicans nominate a populist, tax-hiking evangelical preacher, their coalition won't recover for a long time.

Leo, I agree. I was thrilled on both counts: I love, love, love Obama. And Huckabee is completely unelectable, but he's a lot of fun.

I would love an Obama vs. Huckabee campaign. Obama for inspiration and leadership, and Huckabee for Chuck Norris tv ads and entertainingly insane tax plans.
